"Play of the Week"-Week 7 Cox Mill/Week 8 Mt. Pleasant

Please forgive Ragin Bull for the lack of a Play of the Week for Week 7 against Cox Mill.  There were some very nice plays in that game to include touchdown runs by Brian Baltimore and Cody Cothren, as well as,   a very nice interception by senior Kirk Werth for a touchdown.  There were other nice plays as well.  Ragin Bull was very busy this past week and inadverently missed the deadline by just a few hours.  Would anyone be willing to assist Ragin Bull?  If so please e-mail hrhsraginbull@yahoo.com.

Hickory Ridge vs. Mt. Pleasant

Hickory Ridge wins their second game in a row to maintain their position as leader in the South Piedmont Conference.  At 3-0 in the conference, the Ragin Bulls are in a 3 way tie with Northwest and Kannapolis for first place.

On their first possession of the game, the Ragin Bulls held the ball 5 minutes, as they ran the ball deep into the Tigers territory.  The drive would end in a 29 yard field goal kick by Alex Daniels.  The Tigers would answer with a touchdown pass from Matt Barrier to Casey Honeycutt.  The score at the end of the first quarter was Mt. Pleasant 6, Hickory Ridge 3.

In the second quarter, Ragin Bull running back Brian Baltimore made a very nice cut to run the ball for a 37 yard touchdown.  The score at halftime was Ragin Bulls 10, Tigers 6.

In the third quarter, Ragin Bull senior linebacker Robbie Newell made a spectacular one handed interception and returned it for a 35 yard touchdown.  The score after three quarters was Hickory Ridge 17, Mt. Pleasant 6.

In the fourth quarter, Tiger QB Matt Barrier connected with Casey Honeycutt on a 7 yard touchdown pass.
Barrier would throw to Cory Huneycutt for the two point conversion.  The Tigers ensuing onside kick was spoiled by the excellent coverage of the Ragin Bulls kickoff return team.  The final score was Ragin Bulls 17, Tigers 14.

The Ragin Bulls offense had 159 yards rushing, 4 yards passing, and a 163 yards of total offense.  Brian Baltimore had 21 carries for 98 yards and one TD.  Senior Coye Still had a good game with a nice 30 yard run that contributed to his 56 yards of rushing for the night.  Blake Sides completed 4 of 8 passes.  Jacolby Thompson had 2 kickoff returns for 54 yards.

The Ragin Bulls defense gave up only 9 yards on the ground and 273 yards in the air.  Dillon Burdette lead the defense with 11 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, and a hurry. Senior Josh Freeman had  6 tackles, 1 pass deflection, and an interception.  Senior Robbie Newell had 4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 interception, 1 touchdown, and a forced fumble.

Next up the Ragin Bulls face Northwest at home.  Kickoff is at 7:30pm.  Please come out and watch this battle for first place in the South Piedmont Conference.  The Ragin Bulls need your support so please come out to the game.  Do not forget to bring your cow bell and see you at the game.  Go Bulls!

JV-Hickory Ridge vs. Mt. Pleasant

The JV Ragin Bulls are handed their first defeat Thursday against Mt. Pleasant.  At the end of the first quarter the game was all tied up with neither team able to score.  Hickory Ridge would strike first with a 7 yard pass in the second quarter from Stafford to Eury.  After that, the Ragin Bulls would score no more, as the Mt. Pleasant defense would come on strong.  In addition, Mt. Pleasant's offense turned on the passing game by scoring twice in the second quarter.  Troutman threw a 30 yard pass to Kimble for 6.  Then it would be McDonald that threw a 24 yard pass to Kimble.  The score at halftime was 13 to 7 Mt. Pleasant.

In the third quarter Troutman would connect with Kimble on a 22 yard for touchdown.  The final score was Mt. Pleasant 19, Ragin Bulls 7.

The Ragin Bulls had 2 interceptions, one lost fumble, and only 47 yards rushing.  T.J. Allen  finished the day with 55 yards on the ground.  Foil Stafford completed 8 of 10 passes for 60 yards.  D.J. Barnes had 6 receptions for 47 yards. And Jason Eury had 54 receiving yards on 3 receptions.

Next Thursday, the JV Ragin Bulls face off against Northwest at Northwest High School.  Kick off is at 6:30.  Do not forget to bring your cow bell.  Go Bulls!

Ragin Bulls Stampede Chargers 56-13

What an evening!  What a Homecoming! The Ragin Bulls stamped the Chargers of Cox Mill on this conference game 56 to 13!  This victory puts the Ragin Bulls in a 3 way tie for first place in the conference at 2-0!

In the first quarter, it was thunderbolt Brian Baltimore who ran for a whopping 43 yards to get the first of many touchdowns of the evening.  Next up, it was lightning Cody Cothren who put the ball into the end zone on a 17 yard run.  Thunder roared once more with Brian Baltimore scoring the touchdown from the 7 yard line.  The score at the end of the first quarter was Ragin Bulls 21, Chargers 0.

In the second quarter, it was the defense who struck first with an interception by senior Kirk Werth.  Kirk returned the interception for a 30 yard touchdown.  Lightning would strike again with Cody Cothren scoring his second time in the game by running a hard fought 32 yard touchdown.  The score at halftime was Ragin Bulls 35, Chargers 0.

You could hear thunder in the third quarter as Brian Baltimore hammered the ball into the end zone from the 10 yard line.  T. J. Allen would be next to add insult to injury by running the ball in from the 7 yard line.  The Chargers QB Arrick Hincher would throw a 80 yard pass to Parker Kenney for the TD.  The score at the end of the third quarter was Ragin Bulls 49, Chargers 6.

In the fourth quarter, T.J. Poole of the Chargers would run a 2 yard touchdown.  Ragin Bull T.J. Allen ran a 3 yard touchdown.  The final score was Ragin Bulls 56, Chargers 13.

With a great effort and outstanding play by all of the Ragin Bulls defense, the Chargers were held to only 48 yards rushing.  The Chargers quarterback was sacked 3 times by Danny Book, Dillon Burdette, and Dakota Shoe.  The same must also be said of the Ragin Bulls offense with only one fumble lost and a whopping 475 yards rushing.  Brian Baltimore rushed the ball 13 times for 208 yards, his best game this season.  With his best game this season, Cody Cothren ran the ball 7 times for 115 yards.  Luke Robinson had a very nice 39 yard carry.  Quarterback Blake Sides contributed 34 yards on the ground.  Senior Chuckie Sahanas had a spectacular, body blowing, 7 yard run.  Senior quarterback Nick Moelle put a nice spiral in the air for 17 yards.  John Martinez had a 19 yard kickoff return.  And my personal favorite, Alex Daniels went 8 for 8 on the PAT kick.  The Ragin Bulls converted 7 of 9 possessions into touchdowns, scoring 78% of the time.  Wow!  Congratulations!

Congratulations to all of the homecoming queens and to our 2009 Hickory Ridge Homecoming Queen Stephanie Forgash.  The atmosphere was great, the food was great, the half time show was spectacular.  Thanks to all who helped put together such a wonderful Homecoming football extravaganza.  If you did not make it, you missed it!

Homecoming-Ragin Bulls vs. Chargers

Tonight is a very special night.  It is the inaugural meeting between the Chargers of Cox Mill and the Ragin Bulls of Hickory Ridge, it is a conference game, and it Homecoming!  The Ragin Bulls are 2-3 and the Chargers are 0-5. The Ragin Bulls are currently in 1st place in the conference at 1-0.  Please come out to this conference game tonight and enjoy all of the Homecoming festivities.  As a reminder, tonight will be the last night to buy raffle tickets.  The drawing will be at halftime.  Do not forget to bring your cow bell and see you at the game.  Go Bulls!

JV-Ragin Bulls vs. Chargers

The JV Ragin Bulls football team go 5-0 as they romp the Chargers of Cox Mill 35-0 in their first ever meeting.  In the first quarter,  D.J. Barnes ran a 70 yard touchdown and T.J. Allen ran a 14 yard touchdown.  The score at halftime was 14-0.

In the third quarter, Josh Chapman made the fumble recovery and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown.  T.J. Allen ran an 8 yard touchdown.  In the fourth quarter, Dalen Helm  punched the ball into the endzone from the 1 yard line.  The final score was Ragin Bulls 35, Chargers 0.

Hickory Ridge had another game on the ground rushing the ball 281 yards.  D.J. Barnes ran the ball 4 times for 98 yards.  T.J. Allen ran 13 times for 94 yards.  Andrew Reynolds had 62 yards on the ground averaging 20.7 yards/carry.  Nick Tyson completed 2 out of 3 passes for 16 yards.
