Ragin Bulls are in the Playoffs!!!

Hickory Ridge(#9 seed) will be playing against North Forsyth(#8 seed).

The game will be played at North Forsyth on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009.

Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls vs. JM Robinson Bulldogs

It was a night of conference rivalries and a night of jockeying for final standings in the SPC Conference.  In a very exciting offensive game the Ragin Bulls defeat conference rival JM Robinson 28-26.  This victory by Hickory Ridge, and a victory by Concord against AL Brown, ends the regular season with a three way tie for second place in the SPC Conference.  Playoff berths are to be announced sometime today at the NCHSAA website (the link to this website is under Media Coverage).

 

In the first quarter, Ragin Bull running back #32 Brian Baltimore would score twice on a 19 yard run and on a 91 yard sprint to the end zone.  The Bulldogs would answer with a 43 yard TD run by Antonio Francis.  In the second quarter, Brian Baltimore would strike again with a 16 yard TD run.  The Bulldogs answered with a 2 yard TD run by Troy Parker and a two point conversion pass from Robert Cloninger to Jacob Allen.  To end the half Blake Sides threw a pass that was deflected by the Bulldogs into the hands of Ragin Bull #19 John Martinez.  The score at halftime was Ragin Bulls 27, Bulldogs 14.

 

In the third quarter, Robinson’s Antonio Francis broke loose for a 82 yard TD run.  In the fourth quarter, Bulldog Robert Cloninger threw a 48 yard TD pass to Antonio Francis.  The Bulldogs attempted a two point conversion to tie the game, but failed on a dropped pass.  The final score was Ragin Bulls 28, Bulldogs 26.

 

HR had 18 first downs compared to 10.  HR had 330 yards of rushing compared to 108.  HR was 7-10 on the pass compared to 12-24.  HR had 62 plays compared to 44.  HR had 413 yards total offense compared to 236.  HR had the ball 28 minutes compared to 19.  HR was 4-13 on third conversion compared 2-11.

 

If you were at the game you know that Brian Baltimore had a fabulous game with 37 rushes for 354 yards and 3 TD’s.  With these numbers you have to give credit to the offense line.  Great job OL and offense!   QB Nick Moelle was 5 for 5 passing for 43 yards.  Awesome!  Coye Still had 5 receptions for 71 yards with a long of 33 yards.  Jacolby Thompson had a 25 yard kickoff return.  And the play of the game was John Martinez’s TD reception off the Bulldog deflection to end the first half.  Great concentration John!  On the defense, if you throw out the one 82 yard run, the Ragin Bulls held the Bulldogs to only 26 yards rushing.  Wow!  The defense also allowed only 2 third conversions on 11 attempts by JMR.  JMR was forced to punt the ball 8 times and only possessed the ball 19 minutes.  Linebackers  Eugene Antwi and Robbie Newell had great games.  Dale Brown had 2 sacks.  On special teams both Josh Freeman and Dillon Burdette had blocked field goals.  With only a two point spread on the final score, those two blocked field goals turned out to be game winners.  Great job to both the offense and defense.

 

With the victory  the Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls have their first winning football season at 6-5 overall, their first winning conference season at 6-2, their highest ranking within the conference at second place, and possibly their first ever playoff berth.  These are great accomplishments for a football program that is only three years old.  No matter what the outcome of the playoff berth is, the Ragin Bull football team has come a long way and has a lot to be proud of.  They have had  a wonderful season.  Congratulations!  Go Bulls!

Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls vs. JM Robinson Bulldogs

Tonight the Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls host the Bulldogs of JM Robinson in a much anticipated conference rivalry.  With a victory, the Ragin Bulls will clinch second place in the 3A South Piedmont Conference and clinch a spot in the state playoffs.  The Ragin Bulls and the Bulldogs have identical records at 5-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.  This is the last regular season football game, so come on out and support your Ragin Bulls football team.  Do not forget to bring your cow bell and see you at the game.  Go Bulls!

JV-Ragin Bulls vs. JM Robinson Bulldogs

The Junior Varsity Ragin Bulls defeat the JM Robinson Bulldogs in the last game of the season 47-20.  That makes the JV Ragin Bulls 8-2 overall with their two losses coming in conference games.

 

In the first quarter, TJ Allen scored a 24 yard TD run and DJ Barnes scored a 29 yard TD run.  In the second quarter, DJ Barnes had a 15 yard TD run and TJ Allen had a 6 yd TD run.  The score at halftime was Ragin Bulls 28, Bulldogs 0.

 

In the third quarter, Foil Stafford threw a 11 yard pass to DJ Barnes for a TD.  In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs answered with a 1 yd TD by Evan Mojtabai.  Then the Ragin Bulls had a 9 yd TD run by Andrew Reynolds.  The Bulldogs answered again with a 83 yd TD kick return by Evan Mojatabai.  Ragin Bull Nick Tyson threw a 38 yd TD pass to Dalen Helm.  Then Jerrick Grier had a 77 yd TD run for the Ragin Bulls.  The final score was Ragin Bulls 47, Bulldogs 20.

 

TJ Allen had 13 carries for 143 yards.  DJ Barnes had 4 carries for 64 yards.  Andrew Reynolds had 7 carries for 55 yards.  Nick Tyson was 3 for 6 on pass completions for 86 yards.  Harvey Cook and Dalen Helm each had 38 yard receptions.  Dalen Helm also had a 40 yard kickoff return while DJ Barnes had a 48 yard punt return.  Congratulations to the JV Ragin Bulls on a very successful season.  Go Bulls!

Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls vs. Concord Spiders

In the battle for conference standings, the Spiders of Concord High School arose to the challenge.  Concord High School has won 4 conference games in a row defeating the Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls 32-30.  Concord and Hickory Ridge are now 4-2 in the South Piedmont Conference and tied for second place.  With a win by JM Robinson and a loss by Northwest last night, there is now a 4 way tie for second place in the South Piedmont Conference.

In the first quarter, Spider Dominique Posey caught a 70 yard pass for a TD making the score Spiders 7, Ragin Bulls 0.    In the second quarter, the Ragin Bulls answered with a 8 yard TD by Brian Baltimore.  Then the Spiders struck with a 61 yd pass to Jacquise Moore and a 1 yard run by Dominique Posey, both for TD’s,  The score at halftime was Spiders 19, Ragin Bulls 7.

In the third quarter, Dominique Posey would score on a 11 yard pass reception.  In the fourth quarter, Spider J.D. Misenheimer would score on a 29 yard reception for a TD.  The Ragin Bulls answered with a 8 yard run by Brian Baltimore and a 26 yard pass  from Blake Sides to senior Coye Still.  The final score was Spiders 33, Ragin Bulls 20. 

Hickory Ridge had 198 yards rushing to Concord’s 29 yards of rushing.  HR completed 5 of 20 passes to Concord’s 13 of 26 passes.  HR had 1 TD pass and 1 INT compared to Concord’s 4 TD passes.  Concord had 366 yards of total offense to HR 274 yards.  HR was 3 of 12 on 3^rd down conversions compared to Concord’s 7 of 13.  Concord’s passing game was the story of the night with 337 yards, HR only had 76 yards of passing.

Ragin Bull running back Brian Baltimore had an excellent game with 241 yards on 28 carries.  QB Blake Sides was 4 of 12 passing with 77 yards.  Senior Chuckie Sahanas caught 3 passes for 70 yards with a long of 32 yards.  The Ragin Bull defense held Concord to only 29 yards of rushing on the night.  Dillon Burdette, Robbie Newell, Kirk Werth, and Robbie Simyon were defensive standouts.

Next week the Ragin Bulls will host JM Robinson.  If Hickory Ridge wins and Concord looses to AL Brown, the Ragin Bulls will finish the season in sole 2^nd place in the South Piedmont Conference at 5-2.  Go Bulls!

Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Dillon Burdette of Hickory Ridge High School for being this week's winner of the Kiss FM 95.1 Athlete of the Week!  As a junior defensive end, Dillon is in the top 10 in the state of North Carolina in both tackles and sacks.
