Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls vs. Concord Spiders

In the battle for conference standings, the Spiders of Concord High School arose to the challenge.  Concord High School has won 4 conference games in a row defeating the Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls 32-30.  Concord and Hickory Ridge are now 4-2 in the South Piedmont Conference and tied for second place.  With a win by JM Robinson and a loss by Northwest last night, there is now a 4 way tie for second place in the South Piedmont Conference.


In the first quarter, Spider Dominique Posey caught a 70 yard pass for a TD making the score Spiders 7, Ragin Bulls 0.    In the second quarter, the Ragin Bulls answered with a 8 yard TD by Brian Baltimore.  Then the Spiders struck with a 61 yd pass to Jacquise Moore and a 1 yard run by Dominique Posey, both for TD’s,  The score at halftime was Spiders 19, Ragin Bulls 7.


In the third quarter, Dominique Posey would score on a 11 yard pass reception.  In the fourth quarter, Spider J.D. Misenheimer would score on a 29 yard reception for a TD.  The Ragin Bulls answered with a 8 yard run by Brian Baltimore and a 26 yard pass  from Blake Sides to senior Coye Still.  The final score was Spiders 33, Ragin Bulls 20. 


Hickory Ridge had 198 yards rushing to Concord’s 29 yards of rushing.  HR completed 5 of 20 passes to Concord’s 13 of 26 passes.  HR had 1 TD pass and 1 INT compared to Concord’s 4 TD passes.  Concord had 366 yards of total offense to HR 274 yards.  HR was 3 of 12 on 3rd down conversions compared to Concord’s 7 of 13.  Concord’s passing game was the story of the night with 337 yards, HR only had 76 yards of passing.


Ragin Bull running back Brian Baltimore had an excellent game with 241 yards on 28 carries.  QB Blake Sides was 4 of 12 passing with 77 yards.  Senior Chuckie Sahanas caught 3 passes for 70 yards with a long of 32 yards.  The Ragin Bull defense held Concord to only 29 yards of rushing on the night.  Dillon Burdette, Robbie Newell, Kirk Werth, and Robbie Simyon were defensive standouts.


Next week the Ragin Bulls will host JM Robinson.  If Hickory Ridge wins and Concord looses to AL Brown, the Ragin Bulls will finish the season in sole 2nd place in the South Piedmont Conference at 5-2.  Go Bulls!

Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to Dillon Burdette of Hickory Ridge High School for being this week's winner of the Kiss FM 95.1 Athlete of the Week!  As a junior defensive end, Dillon is in the top 10 in the state of North Carolina in both tackles and sacks.

Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls vs. Concord Spiders

Tonight the Ragin Bulls of Hickory Ridge will travel to Concord to face the Spiders of Concord High School.  With the victory against NW Cabarrus the Ragin Bulls are in sole second place in the South Piedmont Conference.  The Concord Spiders have won two conference games in a row.  They defeated Central Cabarrus and JM Robinson back to back.  The Spiders victory against JM Robinson puts them just one game behind the Ragin Bulls in the conference standings.  The Ragin Bulls are only one game behind AL Brown for first place in the conference.  Northwest Cabarrus faces AL Brown tonight and a victory by Northwest and Hickory Ridge would result in another 3 way tie for first place in the South Piedmont Conference.  Tonight’s games are very important and the results are much anticipated.  The race for the conference championship is in full swing!

Kickoff is at 7:30pm.  Come out and support your Ragin Bulls football team and do not forget to bring your cow bell.  See you at the game.  Go Bulls!

JV-Hickory Ridge Ragin Bulls vs. Concord Spiders

The junior varsity football team of Hickory Ridge High School defeats the Spiders of Concord High School 35-14.  In the first quarter, DeVontae Ellis returns an interception 34 yards for a Ragin Bull touchdown.  D.J. Barnes would score next for the Ragin Bulls with a 30 yard run.  At the end of the first quarter  the score was Ragin Bulls 14, Spiders 0.

 

In the second quarter, Ragin Bull Foil Stafford completed a 2 yard pass to D.J. Barnes for a touchdown.  The Spiders answered with a 6 yard touchdown pass to Eddie Melo.  The score at halftime was 21-6.

 

In the third quarter, D.J. Barnes had a 3 yard touchdown run and Ricardo Day had a 27 yard touchdown run.  In the fourth quarter, Jamil Bost of Concord punched the ball into the end zone with a 1 yard run.  The final score was Ragin Bulls 35, Spiders 14.

 

The Ragin Bulls had 16 first downs compared to the Spiders 5 first downs.  The Ragin Bulls outrushed the Spiders 250 yards to 47 yards.  Total offense was Ragin Bulls 283 yards, Spiders 110 yards.  The Ragin Bulls were 6 for 8 on 3rd down conversions.

 

Ragin Bull running back T.J. Allen carried the ball 12 times for 125 yards.  D.J. Barnes rushed 5 times for 112 yards and had 3 touchdowns on the night.  Foil Stafford completed 4 out of 6 passes for 28 yards.  Jason Eury had 2 receptions for 21 yards.  Adrian Ike was for 5 for 5 on the PAT kick.  Kicker Jake Douglas kicked the ball 6 times for 304 yards.  Michael Sciascia returned 2 kickoffs for 59 yards.

 

Congratulations to the JV Ragin Bulls !  They have had a very good season thus far with only two losses. Next up, the JV Ragin Bulls will travel to JM Robinson for the last of the game of the season.
